DeMarre Carroll on LeBron James flagrant foul complaints: ‘We don’t act’

LeBron James feels that he hasn’t gotten a fair shake when it comes to flagrant fouls in the postseason, but one Toronto Raptors player seems to think there’s a reason for that.

On Tuesday, James wondered aloud what it would take for a flagrant foul to be called in his favor, having been involved in a series of incidents in Game One that involved James being hit above the shoulders a few times but never drawing a flagrant call for any of the.

“I have no idea what it is,” James said of the difference between a common and flagrant foul on high contact, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I know what it is when it happens to someone else, but I don’t know when it involves me. I have no idea what a common foul and flagrant foul is.”

Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll was asked about the apparent discrepancy that James complained about, and he had a theory.

“Maybe ’cause we don’t act,” Carroll said.

The implication is that James plays up hard contact and referees choose not to reward him for doing so.

This isn’t the first time James has shared his displeasure with playoff officiating, and what he feels is a double standard. We’re guessing that Carroll would be more in agreement with Stan Van Gundy in this particular instance.
