Derek Fisher calls out travel accommodations for WNBA players
Derek Fisher is not happy with the current reality for his team and his league.
Fisher, the head coach of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, took to Instagram after an 89-85 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday to call out the travel accommodations they were dealing with. He posted a picture of the Sparks apparently waiting for a train with all of their luggage in tow and wrote in his caption, “So after a hard fought win on national television @la_sparks are right back to reality that these women are not being treated like the best athletes in the world!! #facts #hastochange #comeonnow.”
The 18-year NBA veteran and five-time champion Fisher is currently in his first season as Sparks coach, leading the team to a 3-2 start to the year.
While the WNBA is slowly gaining the respect that it deserves in the greater basketball hierarchy, Fisher’s post sheds light on the hidden struggles that those in the league still face every day.
