Dirk Nowitzki is going for the reverse jinx ahead of Tuesday’s draft lottery.
In the hours leading up to the lottery, the Dallas Mavericks big man posted this priceless tweet poking fun at the team’s unluckiness in drafts past.

In truth, the lack of lottery luck on the part of the Mavs, who enter Tuesday with the ninth-best odds, can probably be attributed to how seldom they’re actually in it — this year marks just the second time Dallas has been in the lottery in the 21st century. While it’s definitely a different take on the power of suggestion that one Western rival has been employing pre-lottery, perhaps Nowitzki’s tweet will succeed in reverse psychologizing the basketball gods.
