Doc Rivers sends funny congratulatory message to Gregg Popovich
Gregg Popovich has received a lot of congratulatory messages from his peers after he became the winningest coach in NBA history. One of the best came from longtime friendly adversary Doc Rivers.
Rivers sent a funny message to Popovich on Saturday, jokingly asking the San Antonio Spurs coach what took him so long to break the record. Rivers also took credit for helping, saying that he “contributed to a lot of those wins.”

Rivers is no slouch himself, with 1,032 career coaching victories. That still puts him 304 wins behind Popovich, outlining just how difficult that record will be to break.
Pretty much everyone around the game is happy for Popovich, including the coach he passed to claim the record. Given what we know about Pop’s sense of humor, he’s probably loving the more tongue-in-cheek messages.
