Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell is one of many New York Mets fans who are excited after the first game of the season.
The Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-7 on Thursday at Citi Field in Flushing, Queens, N.Y.
Pirates ace Paul Skenes went just 0.2 innings as he gave up five runs and was removed in a shockingly quick exit for the reigning National League Cy Young winner.
After the game, Mitchell, who is a well-known Mets fan, took to X with a perfect reaction.
“Yeah we goin to the World Series!!!”

The Mets were down 2-0 in the top of the first after offseason trade acquisition Freddy Peralta gave up a two-run home run to Brandon Lowe.
However, the Mets scored five in the bottom of the first to take the lead, thanks in part to Pirates shortstop-turned-outfielder Oneil Cruz making some bad blunders.
Mitchell’s ties to the Mets organization are largely due to his father, Donovan Mitchell Sr.
Mitchell’s father has been employed by the organization since 1999, and he spent time as a coach and manager in the minor leagues. He now holds the role of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The Cavs star was also born in Elmsford, N.Y., which is in Westchester County, so he is a local product who still bleeds orange and blue.
While it might be too early to predict a World Series for the Mets, it was a strong start to the season, especially against Skenes.
