Dwyane Wade knew on flight from Las Vegas LeBron was going to Cleveland

Remember that infamous flight LeBron James and Dwyane Wade shared from Las Vegas to Miami prior to James announcing he would sign with the Cavaliers? Remember how people started reporting that LeBron going to Cleveland wasn’t a done deal anymore? Yeah, turns out that was all B.S.

Wade said Friday that he could tell LeBron was going to Cleveland just based on the way his former teammate was acting.

“Yeah, I went to sleep knowing,” Wade said Friday before his annual Fantasy Basketball Camp via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “He called me the next day. But I knew then. Obviously he still had to say the final yay or nay, but I knew. I could tell.”

That flight from Vegas to Miami was supposedly on Thursday night. James made his announcement on Friday.

Though LeBron is going to another team, Wade says he supports him.

“As his friend, I’m just supportive,” Wade said. “As crazy as that might sound, I’m supportive of my friends doing what makes them happy. Obviously, same thing with him in this situation. You’ve gotta do what makes you happy — selfishly do what makes you happy. The decision to go back home was that.”

It’s pretty funny that people thought because they were flying together it meant LeBron was going back to Miami. Like Wade said, they can still be friends even though they’re no longer teammates. This was about business, not friendship, and James did what was best for his business.
