The Chicago Bulls announced on Thursday that Dwyane Wade will miss the remainder of the regular season with a broken elbow.

Wade will not undergo surgery, but an MRI revealed he has a small fracture in his elbow. He told reporters he will play in the postseason if doctors clear him and the Bulls get that far.

Wade said no surgery. "It sucks. It's not the way I would've written it. But it is what it is."

Wade said if Bulls qualify and he's cleared, he'll play in playoffs. Also said its too early to think about how this affects option decision

The Bulls are currently a game behind both the Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Wade said it will now be up to Jimmy Butler to lead the team to the postseason.

Wade on Butler: "Just focus on what Jimmy needs to do and that’s to go out the last 14 games and kick ass, help lead this team to playoffs."

Wade on Butler: "It’ll be an even better story with me out of it. It’s a challenge for him. And I look to see how he rises to the challenge"

Wade has a player option for next season, and his recent comments about Chicago’s front office make it seem like it is likely he will not be back. If this is the way Wade’s very brief tenure with the Bulls ends, it will be a huge disappointment.
