There’s something about Ben Stiller’s New York Knicks fandom that he wants everyone to understand.
On Sunday, the 60-year-old actor appeared in a thread on X where a fan questioned his loyalty to the New York Knicks. Ben Stiller took notice and responded.
“Hi. My fandom didn’t start when Twitter was invented. Tweets don’t equal fandom. Ask Spike [Lee]. I’ve been a fan since 73. Lived in LA 92-2012,” Stiller wrote on X.
The “Zoolander” actor then rattled off names of former Knicks players to further back his claim that his intense support for the team isn’t tied to his social media activity.
“My posting is not indicative of my commitment to the team. Ask Ron Baker. Or Lou Amundsen. Or Henry Bibby or Mike Glenn. Or Bernard King or Louis Orr or Spencer Haywood.. (I don’t actually know them personally but I love the Knicks).”
Stiller has been a common sight at New York Knicks games and is throwing his full support behind the team in the playoffs. Whether people think he’s a fair-weather New York Knicks fan or not, there is no stopping him from professing his love for New York, which wrapped up its first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks in six games.
Up next for the Knicks is an all-Atlantic Division playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, which begins Monday at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
