George Karl apologized to DeMarcus Cousins for tradeable comment

George Karl is really working to repair his relationship with Sacramento Kings star center DeMarcus Cousins.

Karl got the rumor mill churning when he said no player was untradeable upon taking over the Kings’ job. Many thought that was a shot at Cousins, whom Karl was said to be trying to trade. But Karl has made strides to smooth things out with Cousins and even said at media day last week that he apologized to Cousins at the time.

“To be honest with you, I apologized to DeMarcus for making the trade comment that I’ve never coached a player that’s untradeable,” Karl told CSN Bay Area’s Kayte Christensen. “That was wrong for me to say, because you all (the media) took it and blew it up into crazy.

“But it’s my responsibility to be smart enough to not say things like that. So I did apologize because I thought that was the only thing, maybe some other things, but really the only thing that got us separated was that comment that then everybody wrote the we’re going to trade [Cousins].”

Things were so bad between Karl and Cousins that the center used a snake in the grass metaphor, presumably about his coach.

Is this apology from Karl just another example of him being a snake in the grass and saying one thing while doing another, or is it another sign he’s trying to kiss and make up? Considering Karl did this back in August, I’d say making his apology public is him really trying to build bridges.
