Giannis Antetokounmpo is doing his best Jordan Belfort impression this week.
Speaking recently to Greek journalists Vassilis Skountis and Rigas Dardalis of COSMOTE TV, the Milwaukee Bucks star Antetokounmpo made a definitive statement about his future. Antetokounmpo said that he will not be asking for a trade from the Bucks and indicated his desire to remain in Milwaukee.
“I don’t think that I would ever text [and ask for a trade],” said Antetokounmpo, per EuroHoops. “I am not this kind of guy. They would have to kick me out.”

The 30-year-old Antetokounmpo has been with the Bucks ever since they drafted him in 2013 and is one of the very few remaining one-team NBA superstars. But throughout this season, Antetokounmpo has been the subject of trade rumors, especially when the Bucks were struggling in the early going and Antetokounmpo was voicing frustration. Multiple specific destinations were even mentioned as potential landing spots for Antetokounmpo in the event that he decided to pursue a trade.
But Milwaukee has since gotten back to their winning ways, now sitting at No. 5 in the Eastern Conference with a 29-24 record. A recent trade for an ex-NBA champion has also improved the Bucks’ outlook heading into the second half of the season.
Antetokounmpo can become a free agent in 2027, and his legacy in Milwaukee will be secure no matter what after he brought home two MVP awards as well as the 2021 NBA championship. We recently heard that the Bucks would only consider trading Antetokounmpo under one condition, but with Antetokounmpo’s latest comments this week, that scenario is now effectively off the table.
