Gregg Popovich may come across as a super-serious, no-nonsense dude — and he is that most of the time — but he also has a pretty darn good sense of humor, too.
Pop was asked after his San Antonio Spurs lost Game 3 of the Western Conference finals Sunday about the status of Manu Ginobili, who left the game late, and he gave a medical update of sorts. The great part was he seized the opportunity to crack the perfect Serge Ibaka joke.
“He’ll be fine,” said Pop.
Then, after reconsidering for a few seconds, Pop offered this:
“Or, he’s out for the rest of the playoffs.”
Ibaka, of course, was said to be out for the postseason after injuring his calf against the Clippers. Though he missed Games 1 and 2 of the Spurs series, he returned and played brilliantly in Game 3.
Gotta love Pop.
