Report: Grizzlies front office growing concerned over possible Mike Conley departure
Some members of the Memphis Grizzlies front office are reportedly growing increasingly concerned that point guard Mike Conley could leave once he becomes a free agent.
According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, there is growing concern that Conley could seek out a new team after his contract expires.
The Grizzlies reportedly intend to give Conley a strong sales pitch, including a video featuring Memphis native Justin Timberlake. One advantage they will have is the ability to offer a fifth season and about $32 million more than any other team can.
Conley has spent his entire career with Memphis, and he has voiced a desire to stay provided the team makes moves to become a contender again. However, he’d be highly sought after as a free agent – you can bet the Knicks will be circling – and it may appeal to him to move on.
