Joel Embiid shows love to Sam Hinkie in Instagram post: ‘He died for our sins’

Sam Hinkie may no longer be the general manager of the Sixers, but his disciples certainly have not forgotten his Messianic sacrifice.

Sixers center Joel Embiid showed love to Hinkie in an Instagram post on Saturday, calling Hinkie “The GOAT” and saying that “he died for our sins.”

Hinkie drafted Embiid No. 3 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. Though foot injuries have prevented him from playing a single game for Philly since then, it looks like Embiid may finally be healthy in time for the 2016-17 season.

Always seen as a cornerstone of Hinkie’s polarizing “Trust the Process” campaign, Embiid understands that he has a chance to vindicate the man who took a gamble on him to bring success to the Sixers. While Hinkie, who resigned as the team’s general manager last April, may no longer be around to reap the benefits of his bold vision, his presence is obviously still very much felt up and down the roster he put together.

“And in the fourth year of The Process, in accordance with the scriptures, Hinkie’s Sixers rose from the dead…”
