Joel Embiid is trusting the weight loss process.
The Philadelphia 76ers star center Embiid went viral on Wednesday after a photo showed him looking extremely slim during an offseason workout. John Clark of NBC Sports shared the image, which was reportedly sent out by the 76ers themselves, and noted that Embiid has shed some pounds this summer.
Take a look.
Look at the shape Joel Embiid is in. He looks great. He has lost some weight. The Sixers sent out pictures of Joel at their practice facility. He is healthy this summer and able to do all the things he needs to do to get ready for the season. This is very promising.

Embiid turns 33 next season and has a lengthy and well-publicized history of knee and foot problems. As such, a slimmed-down figure can only be a good thing for Embiid, especially at an official listing of 7-foot and 280 pounds last season.
The former NBA MVP Embiid is also prepping for a season of high expectations in Philadelphia after the additions of both LeBron James (free agency) and Jaylen Brown (trade). With Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe rounding out the team’s projected starting five, this may be Embiid’s best chance to make it out of the second round for the very first time in his NBA career.
Embiid, who is starting a new three-year, $187.8 million extension with the team that runs through 2029, averaged 26.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game over 38 total appearances last season. While his new teammate James was said at one point to be seriously concerned about Embiid’s availability, Embiid himself appears to be doing all that he can to stay healthy for next season.
