Jordan Farmar reportedly agrees to contract with Lakers

Jordan FarmarThe Los Angeles Lakers may be retooling their roster, but they’re also bringing back at least one familiar face.

According to former UCLA basketball player Kris Johnson, Jordan Farmar has signed with the Lakers. Johnson and Farmar attended a UCLA basketball reunion put on by the program and new coach Steve Alford on Tuesday. Per Johnson, Farmar said at the event that he signed with the Lakers.

Farmar, who grew up in LA and played college ball at UCLA, was drafted by the Lakers in the first round in 2006. He spent four seasons with the Lakers, two with the Nets, and then he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, who immediately released him last summer.

Farmar spent last season in Turkey. ESPN LA’s Dave McMenamin says the deal between Farmar and the Lakers is one year for the veteran’s minimum, but the Lakers must agree with Farmar’s Turkish club on a buyout first.

Farmar’s best NBA season was his last in the league. He shot 46.7 percent from the field, including 44 percent on 3-pointers, in the 2011-2012 season with the Nets. He should add depth for the Lakers at the point guard position.
