Kevin Harlan will be taking his talents to a new network after the NBA leaves TNT.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the longtime play-by-play announcer Harlan is closing in on a deal to call NBA games for Amazon Prime beginning next season. Marchand notes that Harlan will be serving as the network’s No. 2 play-by-play guy behind Ian Eagle, who was previously announced as Amazon’s lead game-caller.

The 64-year-old Harlan has several decades of broadcasting experience with multiple major networks. He has been broadcasting NBA games for TNT since 1996 and has been their de facto lead announcer since Marv Albert’s retirement. A major fan-favorite in the booth, Harlan continues to provide countless classic moments during both the regular season and the playoffs.

That said however, this is TNT’s last season of broadcasting NBA games before those rights shift over to Amazon and NBC (along with incumbent ESPN) from the 2025-26 through 2035-36 seasons. Harlan, who had hinted recently at uncertainty over his future with TNT, is still expected to continue with his NFL and college basketball duties for CBS, Marchand adds.

Amazon is on a real heater right now when it comes to adding talent for their impending foray into NBA coverage. Along with tabbing Eagle and Harlan for play-by-play work, Amazon recently landed some former NBA superstars to anchor their studio coverage.
