Kevon Looney had to play point guard for shorthanded Warriors, did surprisingly well
The Golden State Warriors’ injury woes this season are creating some seriously strange sights in their lineup.
Warriors big man Kevon Looney was relied on to play some point guard for the team during Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Suns, with head coach Steve Kerr noting that the 24-year-old got time at the position in high school.
Looney will handle the ball tonight, Kerr said. “He played some point in high school.”

Looney was pressed into action with Stephen Curry still sidelined, Draymond Green sitting with knee soreness, and regular starter Ky Bowman also out with an ankle injury. The ex-UCLA star actually did surprisingly well at the point, posting ten points, six rebounds, and three assists with zero turnovers in an eventual 115-99 win for the Warriors.
He also flashed quite the ball-handling display late in the third quarter.

We have seen worse experiments happen with the Warriors this season, but it just goes to show how badly the team has gotten smacked by the injury bug.
