Klay Thompson is not usually known as the kind of player who gets rattled on the court. But one fateful night in October 2022 had the Golden State Warriors star talking trash against Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker.

Booker and Thompson got into it in the third quarter of the contest, with the latter seen continuously flashing four fingers to flex his four Warriors championship rings. Once the animosity escalated, Booker was assessed a technical while Thompson was ejected from the playing court. Thompson did not leave the floor quietly, as you can see here.

Now months removed from the incident, Thompson regrets his actions that night. The Warriors guard spoke candidly on the matter in a recent appearance on “Podcast P with Paul George.”

“I was in my feelings, though. [Devin Booker] was busting my a– that day,” Thompson told George. “I was not where I needed to be. God, stuff doesn’t age well and that didn’t age well for me. I don’t need to be flexing four rings, bro. Everybody knows that. That’s on Wikipedia. … I’m not really proud of that one.”

Thompson also admitted that his taunting was driven by insecurity. He had one of the worst games of his career that night, finishing with 2 points on 1-of-8 shooting. Meanwhile, Booker had 34 points and 7 assists in the 134-105 Suns win.
