The Golden State Warriors have announced plans to honor Klay Thompson in his first game back at Chase Center with a special fan giveaway.
The Warriors will give all fans a special captain’s hat for Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, which will see Thompson return as a visitor. They are also promising a special pregame celebration in Thompson’s honor.

The giveaway is a nod to Thompson’s love of boating in and around the Bay Area, which he became particularly known for over the past few years.
The Warriors appear ready to go all-out to honor Thompson, who was a vital part of the most successful era in franchise history. Even though things supposedly were not that great when the two sides parted ways, they have been nothing but complimentary of each other publicly. The team has already pledged to retire Thompson’s jersey eventually as well.
Thompson’s Mavericks career is off to a solid start, as he is shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range. That is down from his peak, but better than what he produced last season.
