Kyle Kuzma says he is done wearing stupid outfits to games
Kyle Kuzma has become known for his fashion choices as much as his basketball game. But Kuzma may be dialing things back a bit when it comes to the fashion, at least in one regard.
Kuzma conducted an interview with fashion magazine Vogue last week, and the interview was published on Friday. In the interview, Kuzma said that though he remains a fashion fan and will continue to wear sharp clothes, he is done trying to show off with special outfits for the walk to the locker room before games.
“I don’t want to be a part of that type of community where you have to put on a fit. I’m really taking a backseat to all of that,” Kuzma said in the interview.
Kuzma also was critical of the culture of spending so much money just to wear something once, calling it “ludicrous.”
“I can speak from experience that when you’re a younger player, you don’t want to wear the same thing twice. A lot of times we get played into thinking, oh, we gotta switch it up, we gotta buy something new. And now we’re just buying clothes to impress people or to stand out. It’s ludicrous,” Kuzma said.
Though Kuzma seems like he has done a 180, that’s not exactly the case. He says that his disillusionment is more central to the “tunnel fit” culture of just wearing nice clothes for the walk from the parking lot to the locker room. He says he will continue to dress nicely and wear fashionable clothes, but do that more on his off days.
Kuzma is probably best known for the pink sweater he wore to a game in 2021. Last year he drew attention for wearing what looked like a life-preserver to a game.
Nowadays, fans will have to catch Kuzma on his off days to see those outfits.
