Report: Lamar Odom may need kidney transplant

Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom has shown many signs of recovery over the past several days, but some of his vital organs are reportedly still failing.

TMZ reports that Odom’s kidneys are “shot” and doctors believe he could need a transplant. For now, Odom has been transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles and will undergo six hours of dialysis per day, but there is a good chance he will need new kidneys.

The good news is that Odom’s heart and some other organs have started to bounce back. He is not out of the woods, but he is expected to survive with months of rehab for both physical movement and speech.

Odom is likely to face plenty of complications going forward. That said, when you read the reports that were surfacing about his condition last week, you get an idea of how fortunate he is to still be alive.
