LaMelo Ball made sure to visit his father LaVar this week in the midst of his recent medical emergency.
The Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo took to his Instagram Story to post a new photo of himself with LaVar. The photo was taken on Wednesday at the Ball family’s Chino Hills, Calif. home (as LaMelo was in town for a game against the Los Angeles Lakers later that night, which the Hornets ended up winning 100-97).
In the photo, you can see the father and son posing together (with LaVar using a mobility scooter to get around).

“seen my dawg b4 da game,” wrote LaMelo. “it was only right i love u pops 5L and after.”
The difficult news broke earlier this week that LaVar, 57, had to have his right foot amputated after suffering a “serious medical issue.” LaVar was said to be in “great spirits” following the procedure though and definitely looked upbeat in this latest photo with his son.
LaMelo, 23, is the youngest of LaVar’s three sons. Oldest brother Lonzo, 27, currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, and middle brother LiAngelo, 26, has unexpectedly transitioned into a successful career as a rapper.
LaVar first achieved national prominence around 2017 with his loud and boastful statements about himself and his three sons. He has also served as the founder and CEO of the sports apparel company Big Baller Brand, which has achieved cult status but has also drawn plenty of mockery over the years.
That said, LaVar has mostly kept out of the headlines more recently now that his sons have found their niches in their respective professional careers. He has also spent time taking care of his wife Tina, who suffered a serious medical issue of her own several years ago.
