LeBron James called out Donald Trump for trying to rescind Stephen Curry’s White House invitation after the Warriors star already said he would vote to not make a visit.
Here’s what James tweeted on Saturday morning:
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going! So therefore ain't no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!
— LeBron James (@KingJames) September 23, 2017
That’s in response to Trump tweeting that he was withdrawing Curry’s invitation.
Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team.Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 23, 2017
This tweet came after Curry said on Friday that he would vote no on the Warriors visiting the White House.
It’s customary for teams that win major sports championships to be honored with a visit to the White House, but some players have talked about declining the invitations as a show of protest against Trump’s policies and behaviors as president. The Warriors are planning to vote on whether or not to go. Several Golden State players have already said they don’t want to attend. Trump is clearly trying to save face by saying he’s withdrawing an invitation so that he doesn’t feel rejected.
