Marcin Gortat: Avery Bradley threatened to ‘beat me up’ in Game 4

Another day, another layer of beef to the Wizards-Celtics grudge match.

In an interview with Rafał Tymiński of Eurosport Poland that was published on Wednesday, Wizards center Marcin Gortat revealed that Celtics guard Avery Bradley threatened him during Game 4.

“We play tougher, but only care about our own team, while they want to provoke us,” Gortat said of the dynamic in the second-round series, per Bartosz Bielecki of Truth About It. “Avery Bradley approached me last game, and said that if I set one more screen, he’s gonna beat me up.

“I laughed him off,” Gortat went on. “I advised him come back when he grows up and gains some weight. It really is the Celtics who get excited with this. In other words, they build their unity around their dislike of Wizards players.”

That dislike between the two sides has been quite palpable for much of the series, which now returns to Boston for Game 5 on Wednesday. But as Gortat hinted at, he measures 6-foot-11, 240 pounds (compared to Bradley’s 6-foot-2, 180 pounds), so it’s probably not the best fight for Bradley to be picking.
