Marcus Jordan sets record straight on MJ’s feelings about relationship with Larsa Pippen
Michael Jordan recently seemed to make his feelings clear about his son dating Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife, but Marcus Jordan insists his father has taken a different stance behind closed doors.
Jordan’s 32-year-old son Marcus began dating Larsa Pippen, who is 48, at some point last year. The two initially claimed to be just friends after they were seen spending a lot of time together, but they have since confirmed that they are dating and even teamed up to start a podcast.
Michael Jordan addressed the relationship publicly for the first time this week. The Chicago Bulls legend was leaving a restaurant in Paris on Sunday when a gossip reporter asked him if he approves of Marcus dating Larsa. Jordan let out a big laugh before shouting “no!” You can see the video here.
Marcus painted a different picture when he and Larsa sat down for an interview with ET’s Brice Sandler recently. Marcus said things became less complicated for the couple “once we realized our families were OK with it.”
“Everybody had an opinion at first. I think there was some shock and interest early on, but I think that was the whole point of us trying to spend some family time together during the holidays.” the younger Jordan said. “At least for me, if we’re gonna be in the media, you know, I kind of need to introduce you to my mom and my mom’s side and my dad’s side. And so, I think that went well and so far, so good.”
Marcus was asked specifically if his dad gave a stamp of approval.
“Yeah, oh yeah,” he replied.
It is impossible to think of Michael being perfectly fine with his son dating his longtime teammate’s ex-wife, even if the 16-year age difference was overlooked. Scottie has also been critical of MJ in recent years, which might add another element of awkwardness to the situation.
MJ might be happy to see his son happy, but the exchange he had with the photographer in Paris seemed quite telling.
