The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly expressed interest in trading for Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.

Warriors reporter Anthony Slater of The Athletic recently appeared on the “HoopsHype” podcast with Michael Scotto. The two NBA insiders discussed several Warriors topics — including the trade market for Wiggins.

Scotto said that the Mavericks have “always liked” Wiggins and are currently in the process of looking for an upgrade at the small forward position.

Slater corroborated the Mavs as a potential suitor for Wiggins by stating that the “Dallas rumblings have been out there.”

Slater added that Wiggins may be seen by several other teams as a buy-low candidate given that Golden State may simply want to get rid of him. Wiggins is currently in the first year of a 4-year, $109 million extension that lasts until 2026-27.

The Mavs were already linked to Wiggins earlier this month and appear to remain interested in his services.

After making the All-Star team during the 2021-22 campaign, Wiggins has seen his production fall off a cliff this season. The 28-year-old is averaging 12.0 points and 1.5 assists per game on shooting splits of 42.7% from the field and 29.5% from the three-point line — all career lows.

There have also been reports about the Warriors’ frustration with Wiggins’ lack of conditioning.

Wiggins’ play has deteriorated for Golden State ever since he went through a personal issue that plagued him for a good portion of last season. Even a year later, the former No. 1 overall pick has yet to bounce back — and may be trade-bound.
