Michael Porter Jr. thought about quitting basketball due to back injury

Michael Porter Jr

Ever since he arrived at Missouri, Michael Porter Jr. has had a nightmarish time with injuries. At one point, it got so bad that he pondered whether he wanted to carry on.

Porter told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated that, while sidelined for nearly all of his freshman season with herniated discs in his back, there were days where he wasn’t sure he wanted to play again.

“There were times I was ready to give it up,” Porter said. “There were just some really, really tough, dark days. I’m not gonna lie.”

Porter suffered another setback that will knock him out of summer league competition, but this is a sprained knee that isn’t expected to keep him out of training camp. He was still a first round draft pick for the Denver Nuggets, and seems to value what the two-year rehab process forced him to experience. The hope is the talented forward can stay healthy going forward.
