Michael Porter Jr. trending toward surprise return from injury
The Denver Nuggets appear set to get help from a surprising source down the stretch in the regular season.
Michael Porter Jr., who has missed virtually the entire season due to a back injury, is nearing clearance for on-court contact work and could return to game action in March. Mark Bartelstein, Porter’s agent, told various reporters that there is optimism that Porter will be able to play late in the regular season and in the playoffs.
Just spoke with Mark Bartelstein. There is significant optimism that Porter will be back in March if he keeps progressing the way he has. https://t.co/mNeWW7Iw4C

Porter underwent surgery on Nov. 6 and the Nuggets have played virtually the whole season without him. They have managed to go 35-25 without him and are poised to make the playoffs, apparently with a healthy Porter in tow. That would take some of the burden off Nikola Jokic, who has been tasked with carrying the team all season.
There is some hope that Denver could get another injured star back by playoff time as well. That would make them a very dangerous team in the postseason.
