Mike Brown pulls savage move while criticizing referees

Kings coach Mike Brown with a laptop

Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown was ejected Sunday during his team’s contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. Brown got creative while explaining why after the game.

Kings guard Malik Monk had to hold Brown back as the coach went face-to-face with referee Intae Hwang in the fourth quarter. The rookie official called two technical fouls on Brown, leading to the latter’s exit from Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis.

Brown was more than ready to address his ejection during his postgame press conference. He brought out a laptop to show reporters what fueled his anger enough to warrant an ejection.

The 53-year-old coach called out what he believed to be a double standard that worked in the Bucks’ favor in the 143-142 Kings loss. He showed a play where Kings star De’Aaron Fox was called for a foul on Bucks guard Damian Lillard despite what Brown asserted was incidental contact.

Brown then pointed to a play where Fox didn’t get the same respect when he was hooked by a defender’s arm.

“Referees are human and they’re going to make mistakes. … But in terms of consistency, you saw it right here,” said Brown while gesturing toward his laptop.

Brown also brought attention to Sacramento’s 19-5 disadvantage in the free throw department during halftime. The Bucks ended up taking and making 12 more free throws than the Kings in a game won by 1 point.

The Kings coach may have just started a movement when it comes complaining about the officiating during postgame press conferences. It won’t be surprising to see other coaches have a screen prepared for the press in order to prove a point.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajaković may perhaps be taking notes after he slammed the refs the old-fashioned way last week.
