Apparently the $153 million contract Mike Conley got over the offseason turned him into a bionic healer as well.
According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical on Thursday, the Memphis Grizzlies guard is on track to make a return to the lineup soon. Conley is said to have been medically cleared to work out in recent days and is feeling closer to returning.
The 29-year-old Conley has been sidelined since suffering a fractured vertebrae in late November. Originally expected to be a crippling injury for the Grizzlies, they have not only survived but thrived, going 7-2 in Conley’s absence and climbing to the fifth seed in the Western Conference with wins over the Golden State Warriors and the (albeit LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love-less) Cleveland Cavaliers. Rookie Andrew Harrison has filled in admirably at point guard for Conley while more offense has been running through Marc Gasol for the time being.
Initial estimates had Conley missing extended time with the injury, but he’s currently just over two weeks into his recovery. The quick turnaround is very welcome news for Memphis as Conley will look to resume what has so far been a career year for him.
