Nikola Jokic's brother punches a fan

Strahinja Jokic has officially been sentenced over his 2024 incident with a fan.

Strahinja, who is the older brother of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, pled guilty on Friday to trespassing and disorderly conduct in connection with his punch of a fan at Ball Arena in Denver, Colo. during an Apr. 2024 NBA playoff game. Shelly Bradbury of The Denver Post reports that Strahinja has been sentenced to a year of probation on the misdemeanor and petty offenses.

The incident in question occurred during Game 2 of the 2024 first-round playoff series between the Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers (which Denver won in five games). Viral video showed Strahinja, who was in the stands along with his other brother Nemanja, exchanging words with a fan and jumping down a row to punch the fan in the face.

In July 2024, Strahinja was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, over the incident. The fan, identified as Nicholas Meyer, also reportedly filed a subsequent lawsuit against Strahinja in which he claimed that he suffered a concussion, facial cuts and bruises, and a deviated septum as a result of the punch.

You can read Bradbury’s full report on the situation here.

Strahinja, 43, is 13 years the senior of Nikola, 30, and has become a staple sitting courtside during Nuggets games. While he has gone viral in the past for some more wholesome moments, Strahinja also got into trouble with Denver police back in 2019 after allegedly choking and pushing a woman and preventing her from calling 911. Strahinja was charged with assault in that case but ended up pleading guilty to lesser charges, according to Bradbury.
