Paul George shares notable update on his knee injury

Less than a week after suffering a scary-looking knee injury, Paul George wants everyone to know not to worry.

On the latest episode of his show “Podcast P,” the new Philadelphia 76ers star George shared a noteworthy update on his left knee. George said that he was “good” and did not expect to be out for very long.

“It wasn’t nothing major,” George said. “No concern. I didn’t damage a ligament. I didn’t damage a tendon. It was literally just bone on bone bruising from a hyperextension.”

“I figure I should be back hopefully sooner than later,” he added. “It won’t be a long timetable.”

The nine-time All-Star George was injured in the second quarter of Monday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks. On a seemingly routine defensive play, George’s left knee turned in awkwardly as he was trying to shift in a different direction (video here). George left the game and did not return.

The 76ers revealed afterwards that George had suffered a hyperextension, which was good news overall. George has experience with hyperextensions, having suffered an ugly one to his other knee about a year-and-a-half ago with the LA Clippers that would ultimately end his season. So the fact that George isn’t too concerned about this one is definitely a good sign for the 76ers (though the 34-year-old still seems unlikely to be ready when the season begins for Philly on Oct. 23 against Milwaukee).
