Phoenix Suns reportedly interviewing candidates for GM job

The Phoenix Suns are looking to make changes to their front office, according to a report.

98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro reported on Wednesday that the Suns have begun interviewing candidates for their general manager job. The job has been filled by interim GMs James Jones and Trevor Bukstein since Ryan McDonough was fired in October.

The report about the Suns comes a day after ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski criticized the league perception of the franchise. In a video posted on Tuesday, Woj had a segment about the “dysfunction in Phoenix.”

“This is an organization that’s in a spiral in almost every way. It’s a concern for the NBA.” Wojnarowski said. “Owner Robert Sarver has seemed to not learn a lot of lessons through the years about his management style, his hands on nature, and his ability to put an infrastructure in place and allow it to build an organization.”

Woj also questioned how much scouting James Jones has been doing in-person of draft candidates.

The Suns currently hold the worst record in the league and are in position to land a high draft pick in the lottery. The team is working on its fifth-straight losing season.
