Rajon Rondo was expected to miss a month after he suffered a hand injury that required surgery on Christmas Day, and it sounds like the veteran point guard’s recovery is right on schedule.
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton said on Monday that Rondo is expected to return to the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, assuming he does not suffer a setback beforehand.
Luke Walton says he thinks Rondo will play Thursday as long as he doesn’t have any setbacks.

Getting Rondo back would be big for the Lakers, especially now that Lonzo Ball is expected to miss significant time after suffering an ankle injury over the weekend. LeBron James is also still recovering from a groin injury he suffered during the same game Rondo got hurt.
Rondo has appeared in 14 games this season with LA. He is averaging 8.4 points, 6.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. The Lakers have lost their last two games and desperately need to get healthy, so getting Rondo back would be a big boost.
