Rick Carlisle labels ESPN ‘a disgrace’ for publishing latest LaVar Ball comments
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is not happy with ESPN for publishing LaVar Ball’s latest comments.
Ball told ESPN that he believed Lakers coach Luke Walton had lost his players, a charge that both Walton and Ball’s son, Lonzo, felt was inaccurate. Instead of going after Ball, Carlisle went after ESPN for giving him a platform in the first place.

Rick Carlisle: “The recent ESPN article, as the president of the coaches association, I would consider it a disgrace.”

The Lakers have been concerned about Ball’s vocal criticism of Walton before, but Carlisle stepping in in his role as president of the Coaches’ Association adds another dimension to it. He clearly views Ball’s criticism as baseless, or at least out of line, though it’s not particularly clear that Carlisle or anyone else can actually do anything about it. Maybe the Lakers need to update their LaVar Ball rule.
