Rick Carlisle has funny Tony Romo quip
Rick Carlisle will get the opportunity to be Tony Romo’s head coach for one day, and he’s already making the most of it.
Speaking on ESPN Radio on Monday, the Dallas Mavericks coach said that Romo, who will be honored as a “Maverick for a day” in Tuesday’s home finale against Denver, will be introduced and will participate in shootaround but won’t actually play, per Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
He won't be playing. He will be introduced as part of our intros. . . He will not be playing."

Carlisle on ESPN: "Tony has become a friend of mine. . .This is very much a ceremonial thing. He's going to participate in shootaround."

As for why the longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback won’t see any game action, Carlisle had this to say:
Carlisle on why Romo won't play Tues. vs. DEN: "It’s not a good idea to take a football athlete and throw him in an NBA basketball game."

The news that Romo was being honored by the Mavericks led some in the NBA community to argue that the four-time Pro Bowler could have been a professional basketball player if he wanted to. But Carlisle, whose deadpan humor has been a hit this season, doesn’t appear to fall into that category.
