When Jeanie Buss made changes to the Lakers’ front office in 2017, she brought in Magic Johnson as the team’s President of Basketball Operations and Pelinka as GM. Johnson indicated he was only planning to remain in his role briefly before ceding power to Pelinka. Magic quit his job with the Lakers at the end of the last year’s disastrous season, leaving Pelinka in charge. Now Pelinka has added a new title.
The 30-7 Lakers have the best record in the West currently and are on their way to making the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
