Spencer Rivers: DeAndre Jordan has ‘0% chance to win championship’ with Mavericks
On Saturday, DeAndre Jordan’s time with the Clippers officially came to an end when he agreed to join the Mavericks on a four-year deal worth $80 million.
Having spent the first seven years of his career with the Clippers, and been an integral part of their success, it’s understandable fans would be upset at the loss of one of the NBA’s best shot blockers and rebounders. Among those not happy is Spencer Rivers, son of Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.
Rivers took to his Twitter account Saturday to express his displeasure at Jordan leaving, and even gave his thoughts on the prospects for Dallas in the upcoming season.
If true I don't see why someone signs with a team that might not make playoffs and have 0% chance of winning a championship…

Hope he does well and of course I'm mad he left lol am I supposed to be happy…

Given the situation, no, Rivers shouldn’t be happy because the team his father coaches just got worse. The Clippers sent Spencer Hawes to the Hornets last month in a trade that saw Lance Stephenson head to Los Angeles. That leaves the club without a recognizable center and a big hole to fill.
As far as the Mavericks go, Jordan gives them a much needed presence inside to go along with Dirk Nowitzki (who left a family vacation to attend the recruitment meeting), Chandler Parsons, and former Blazers guard Wes Matthews, who will be heading to Dallas after agreeing to a four-year deal. They won’t be the favorites to win the championship, but their chances have to be greater than zero percent, right?
