Steve Kerr cracks great joke about Kevin Durant’s strong playoff run

Steve Kerr

Kevin Durant has elevated his game and is playing some of his best basketball of the season when the Golden State Warriors need him most, but Steve Kerr wasn’t quite ready to crown his star player following Sunday’s win over the Houston Rockets.

Durant scored 35 points in Golden State’s game one victory, and he has averaged 40.2 points per game over the past five games dating back to Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers. A reporter asked Kerr on Sunday if he has ever seen a stretch of play like that in the postseason, and the Warriors coach had an outstanding response.

Kerr, of course, won four championships with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls as a player in the 1990s. To say he has seen a player string together a handful of amazing games in the playoffs would be an understatement. Durant might be a bit offended that Kerr appeared to imply last year that LeBron James was playing better basketball than Jordan ever did, but Kerr heaped plenty of praise on Durant after making his little quip.

Whether he has been better than Jordan or not, Durant is on fire. If he continues to play the way he has for the past couple weeks, the Warriors are going to be almost impossible to beat.
