The NFL free agency period and trade market have slowed down after a flurry of moves at the start of the new league year.
One name still floating around is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. The Colts allowed Richardson to seek a trade, and as of now, nothing has materialized for the former No. 4 overall draft pick.
However, one team has been pegged as a potential landing spot: The Green Bay Packers.
Sportsboom’s NFL insider Jason La Canfora said one general manager made the prediction.
“Green Bay, I bet, brings him in,” the GM told La Canfora.
After Richardson began to explore a trade, the Minnesota Vikings were immediately linked as a realistic option. However, they recently signed Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz to compete with J.J. McCarthy.
In the middle of March, ESPN’s Stephen Holder named the Packers as a team to watch for Richardson, so that aligns with La Canfora’s latest update.
The Packers watched backup QB Malik Willis sign a $67.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, so Green Bay needs to bring in a backup.
Richardson played in just two games this past season due to injuries and Daniel Jones winning the job out of camp.
Still, Richardson is just 23 years old (he turns 24 in May), and could be had a low price, especially if he remains available leading up to the NFL Draft.
