Steve Kerr delivered a perfect response to a question about LeBron James on Thursday.
The Golden State Warriors head coach was asked whether he would like to coach James in light of a report saying LeBron would be open to meeting with the team in free agency. Kerr refused to go there for fear of tampering.
Kerr on if he'd like to coach LeBron James: "You're really going to ask that? Do you want me to get my checkbook out? I could just make it out to Adam Silver? Or to the NBA? You know that's illegal. I'm not answering that."

What else could he say? Sure, I’d love to have James on my team because, let’s be real, who wouldn’t? Kerr has learned enough from watching what happened to Magic Johnson to get caught in the tampering trap. He’s too smart for that.
But LeBron on the Warriors? We don’t see that happening, just like Kevin Durant.
