Report: Trevor Ariza would prefer to be traded to Lakers

Trevor Ariza

Trevor Ariza is drawing interest from numerous contending teams as he is expected to be traded in the coming days, but the veteran forward reportedly has one destination that he prefers above all the others.

Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times was told by people close to Ariza that the 33-year-old would prefer to return to the Lakers, with whom he previously spent two seasons and won his only NBA championship.

Ariza is not eligible to be traded until Dec. 15, which is when players who signed free agent contracts this offseason can be dealt. He signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Phoenix Suns back in July. The Suns are arguably the worst team in the NBA and have won just four games this season.

While several teams are expected to make Phoenix offers for Ariza, one report this week claimed it is only a matter of time before he ends up teaming up with LeBron James. The Lakers already claimed former Suns big man Tyson Chandler after he was waived earlier this season, and Ariza could be the next piece they add.
