New information has emerged regarding what led to the confrontation between former Miami Heat teammates Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
Adebayo took offense to posts allegedly made from Herro’s alternate Instagram account questioning Adebayo’s $60 million salary and suggesting that he, not Adebayo, would have been Miami’s centerpiece had he been fully healthy, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Adebayo confronted Herro about those comments when they crossed paths in Las Vegas, and when Herro responded in a way that bothered Adebayo, the center struck Herro near the chin.
Herro was not actually knocked down in the altercation and had to be restrained by others to keep him from retaliating.
For Herro’s part, he told ESPN that he is “just trying to move past all of it” and focus on his future with the Milwaukee Bucks.
There had been previous claims that Herro had been stirring things up between the two and felt Adebayo had not supported him when his name had been coming up in trade rumors. A source told Shelburne that the two players had a good relationship until last year, when Adebayo started to suggest that Herro needed to do more to fit into the team’s new offensive scheme.
Herro has spoken positively about his time with the Heat since the trade. Adebayo might just be an exception to that, because it sounds like there is no love lost between the two.
