Tyronn Lue scoffs at notion that Cavaliers could miss playoffs
Are the Cleveland Cavaliers in danger of falling out of the playoffs entirely? Tyronn Lue says no.
The Cavaliers sit five games ahead of the ninth-seeded Detroit Pistons as of Monday afternoon. This means Cleveland is closer to missing the playoffs than they are to the top seed in the Eastern Conference, as they sit a full seven and a half games behind the Boston Celtics.
Still, Lue has no concerns about the team’s playoff placement.
“I mean we’re still going to make the playoffs,” the Cavaliers coach said Monday, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “There’s no doubt about that. We’re still confident in that for sure.”
According to McMenamin, Lue raised an eyebrow at even being asked the question.
“It’s too early for that, but, I don’t think we’ll be knocked out of (making) the playoffs,” Lue said.
Things have been going so badly for the Cavaliers that Lue’s job status has been called into question. They’ll probably still make the playoffs, but they’re going to have to start winning some games.
