One former San Antonio Spurs giant believes the team isn’t being honest about Victor Wembanyama’s actual height.
Beloved NBA journeyman Boban Marjanovic was a guest on Tuesday’s episode of NBA Today. The hulking Serbian center was asked to talk about Wembanyama, who was listed at 7’3″ as a rookie two seasons ago.
The Spurs have officially listed Wembanyama at 7’5″ this offseason, following a reported growth spurt over the summer. Marjanovic claimed that the initial 7’3″ listing completely undersold Wemby’s true height.
“I’m officially 7’4″ and maybe a little bit [taller],” Marjanovic said on the program. “I was looking [up at him] and I was like, ‘No way!’ Because on the paper, I was taller. You saw 7’3″ and I’m 7’4″, and I was looking at him like, no way I’m taller than him.”

ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst chimed in, calling Wembanyama’s listed height as a rookie an outright “lie.”
“He was listed at 7’3″ as a rookie, but that was a lie,” Windhorst followed. “He was not 7’3″. I believe he was actually about 7’5″. He’s now listed at 7’5″. Boban, I think he might be approaching 7’7″, unofficially.”
The idea that an NBA star would underreport their actual height is nothing new.
There have long been rumors about NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett refusing to be listed at 7-foot because the legendary power forward did not want to play center. Kevin Durant’s true height has also been a constant topic of discussion over the years, with many believing Durant is actually a 7-footer.
Fans have been fascinated by Wemby’s height long before he appeared on an NBA floor. With Wembanyama’s star profile getting bigger each season, the chatter on his true height will only get louder.
