Bob Arum crushes Amir Khan, says he is not a draw
There is a lot of chatter about Manny Pacquiao fighting in October, but don’t expect that fight to go to Amir Khan.
The Telegraph spoke with Pac-Man’s promoter Bob Arum about potential opponents for Manny. When asked if Khan was a possibility, Arum dismissed the British fighter in harsh terms.
“Amir Khan means absolutely nothing in the United States,” Arum told Telegraph Sport. “He brought over no people for the Canelo fight. He saved the Brits a lot of agony.
“He is not a draw on PPV in England. He is looked upon on both sides of the pond as yesterday’s news, and yet he refuses to recognize that and feels that his value is very, very high, which it is not.”
Khan lost to Canelo Alvarez in May, but it was his first fight at middleweight. He had much greater success at 140 and 147 and isn’t as bad as Arum makes him out to be. Of course, Arum wouldn’t have much positive to say about Khan since Amir has been in business with rival Golden Boy and Al Haymon. The more likely opponent for Pacquiao is Adrien Broner. Bud Crawford has also been mentioned as a possibility. Just don’t expect Amir Khan to get that fight.
