Floyd Mayweather does not say whether he thinks Conor McGregor is racist

There has been a lot of talk this week about Conor McGregor being racist because of some comments he made taunting Floyd Mayweather Jr, but Mayweather is not ready to throw around any accusations.

For a second consecutive day on Wednesday, McGregor told Mayweather to “dance for me, boy” during a press event to promote the Aug. 26 fight. After the event, Mayweather was asked by TMZ if he took offense to the remark.

“Racism still exists, but I try to take something negative and turn it into a positive,” Mayweather said. “We all know there’s only two types of boys — a white boy and a cowboy. I’m not either. I’m just joking.”

While he said McGregor’s “boy” remarks (video here) didn’t bother him, Mayweather stopped short of defending his upcoming opponent.

“I’m not upset at all. … A lot of people say Conor McGregor is racist, but I don’t worry about that,” he said. “When he said the ‘boy’ comment, it is what it is. He’s entitled to feel how he wants to feel.”

Floyd’s father said he does not think McGregor was being racist, but Mayweather Jr. is one of the best promoters in boxing history. If talk about McGregor being racist builds more anticipation for the fight, he knows better than to squash it completely.
