Floyd Mayweather fires back at Ronda Rousey

Floyd Mayweather money stacks

If Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ronda Rousey were the same sex and fought in the same sport, the two would be building up to a very highly-anticipated bout against one another.

Mayweather fired the latest shot in his ongoing “feud” with Rousey during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter Thursday night.

“I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes,” Mayweather said, via Marc Raimondo of MMAFighting.com. “When she can do that, then call me.”

Mayweather and Rousey have been beefing through the media for roughly a year. After Joe Rogan said he believes Rousey could beat Mayweather in a fight, Mayweather pretended to not know who Rousey is. He acknowledged on Thursday that he is now familiar with her.

“A while back I didn’t know who Ronda Rousey was, so I’m pretty sure she got upset,” Mayweather added. “I want to say congratulations to Ronda Rousey and the UFC. You guys have done a tremendous job and I’ve won probably six or seven ESPYS for Fighter of the Year. And I truly believe she deserves it. Congratulations to Ronda Rousey.”

Floyd is certainly right about Rousey having been upset, which was evident with the shot she took at him at the ESPYs after she won the award for Best Fighter.

Will Rousey ever make the kind of money that Mayweather makes? No. Very few athletes will, but she’s doing just fine both in and outside the Octagon.
