Oklahoma State pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Georgia in the NCAA Athens Regional on Sunday, and the host has now been eliminated as a result.
Georgia took a 9-7 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning at Foley Field in Athens, Ga. Bulldogs pitcher Tyler McCloughlin walked Oklahoma State’s leadoff hitter and then gave up a two-run home run to Cowboys cleanup hitter Kollin Ritchie.
Ritchie’s homer tied the game with no outs. Georgia then brought in closer Zach Harris, who allowed a single to Colin Brueggemann. Harris struck out the next hitter and then induced a ground ball for a fielder’s choice, which left a runner on first.
Oklahoma State third baseman Brock Thompson played the role of hero with the walk-off two-run homer to end the game and send the Bulldogs packing.

Georgia players looked completely stunned, and you can understand why. The Bulldogs were the No. 7 national seed but went 1-2 in the NCAA Regional. The loss marked the second straight year that Georgia failed to advance to the College World Series despite hosting the NCAA Regional. They have not been to the College World Series since 2008.
The Bulldogs finished the season 43-17.
Oklahoma State will now face Duke on Monday night to determine the winner of the Athens Regional.
