Geno Auriemma had a surprising reaction to UConn’s streak ending
Geno Auriemma’s reaction to his UConn Huskies losing to Mississippi State and having their 111-game winning streak come to an end was surprising.
As the Huskies lost to Mississippi State on a buzzer-beat from Morgan William (video here), Auriemma did not slam his clipboard, stomp around, or yell at his players. Nope. Instead, he had a big smile on his face:

Was he in disbelief that the moment had finally come, that his Huskies had finally lost? Did he immediately recognize the historic nature of the win, and was he smiling because he was happy for Mississippi State? Or did he just smile because he realized what a cool shot it was by William? Maybe it was a combination of everything.
Auriemma did say during the tournament that he was just waiting to see when his team would finally lose. He echoed that thought after the game.
